Rapper/Radio DJ — and NileFM mainstay — Mosalem recently dropped the visualizer for his latest single 8/8, produced by fellow Egyptian Jamal Ehab. The duo work incredibly well together, and Jamal Ehab’s varied production compliments Mosalem’s constantly shifting flow, and there is hardly a moment in which the beat or lyrics stagnate or lose energy. Rarely have Arabic rap and rock been fused so well, especially when the beat constantly switches up every 40 seconds or so.

However, for all the interesting ideas presented, the downside to 8/8 is its unpolished sound; the vocals sit way too high in the mix and drown out much of the beat’s instrumental intricacy, which holds the track back from hitting as hard as the duo intended.

Here's hoping that Mosalem and Jamal Ehab pursue and develop these ideas further in the future.
