The latest instalment of Shuffle, our bi-weekly multi-genre playlist, spotlights a mix of emerging voices and established names from across the region, traversing sounds that range from pop and R&B to experimental electronics.
Moroccan artist Jaylann ushers in summer with ‘La Cote’, a breezy blend of funk, pop, and rai filtered through ‘80s disco influences, while Sudanese artist Kordofan broadens his sonic palette beyond hip-hop on ‘7agara’, a collaborative effort with DJ Amricky. Lebanese singer-songwriter Oliver Azzi returns with the stripped-back piano ballad ‘Baladi’, and Saudi duo Dish Dash joins forces with Eyad for ‘Wadi Wadi’, an Arabic-inflected melodic house cut.
Meanwhile, Egyptian singer-producer Lege-Cy steps away from his typically introspective sound in favour of the groove-driven ‘Seby Nafsek Khales’, while actress Ola Rosdy makes her musical debut with ‘Mama Gat’. Berlin-based producer Abadir also offers a glimpse into his forthcoming album with the experimental single ‘The Primitivist’.
