On this edition of Rap of The Week, our playlist features pioneering regional artists such as Egyptian fan-favourite Lege-Cy, who seamlessly switches between charismatic one-liners and introspective bars on the spacious bass heavy instrumental on ‘Ta2reban’, produced by Tul8te.
Meanwhile, Alexandria based artist Dareen, along with producers Sintax & Badmood, released ‘Ala El3ein’, where Dareen’s hypnotic flows and catchy melodies are paired with a dark, but hard-hitting orchestral trap beat.
Sudanese rapper Tageel is also featured in this week’s selection as he collaborates with Egyptian producer Swish to explore a more minimal sound on ‘Logha’, where Tageel’s straight-from-the-heart performance shines through the cool and reserved old-school hip-hop instrumental, full of detail and atmosphere. You can also hear the latest from Kamikazem, Ge11o, and Sudma, who alternate between delivering verses full of attitude on ’4AM’, where a biting bass-line and washed-out background pads float underneath the track’s crisp drums and smooth flows.
