Randa Shoukry’s Debut ‘Hayaty Mestaneyany’ is a Leap of Faith

Cairo-based rising artist Randa Shoukry has recently dropped her debut single ‘Hayaty Mestaneyany’, a deceptively upbeat, guitar-laced anthem born out of grief, burnout and one very impulsive quit notice.

Following a two-back-to-back family tragedies and a post-grad spiral, Shoukry found herself fumbling into adulthood at full speed, physically drained and stuck in a job that muted her creative voice. The chorus of ‘Hayaty Mestaneyany’ came to her fully formed in the middle of a meltdown, and instead of brushing it off, she trusted her gut and took a leap of faith to solely focus on her music career.

Rooted in Egyptian Arabic lyricism and Shoukry’s inner monologue, the track balances playful lyrical sarcasm with lush 80s-leaning production (courtesy of Hybrid Monkey) and shimmering guitar riffs – a compelling paradox to the lyrics’ vulnerability and the chaos behind its creation.
