Kid Fourteen’s Single ‘Here’s Pop’ is a Bold Confessional Noise-Pop
The track is the first single from Kid Fourteen's forthcoming album, Far Away and Well Adjusted, marking his comeback after a two-year hiatus.
Lebanese-born artist Kid Fourteen has released ‘Here’s Pop’, the first single from his forthcoming album, Far Away and Well Adjusted, which will be his first full-length project since A Brief Emotional Dragon in 2024.
Since his emergence in the Lebanese indie scene circa 2010, Khodor Ellaik has garnered considerable following for his wholly unique sound, which often straddles the peripheries of pop, post-punk, noise, experimental jazz and electronic music. After relocating to Paris, his work shifted to different forms, experimenting more with synth pop, guitar-driven noise, ambient textures, and Arabic poetry. However, he remained consistent in the quality and emotional precision of his productions.
Lyrically, ‘Here’s Pop’ reads like a confessional. However, the production repositions it in a more experimental sphere, offering an avant-garde expression of vulnerability and love, borrowing textures from art rock, synth-pop and post-punk. It’s distinctively Kid Fourteen’s, poetically abstract and slightly tongue-in-cheek.
With ‘Here’s Pop’, Kid Fourteen continues the introspective thread introduced in A Brief Emotional Dragon, while widening the sonic scope with fuller, more layered arrangements.
