Constantly disrupting the hazy atmosphere underlying the tracks with her bold range of vocals, Felukah injects soulful, fluid currents that instill energy into slow summer evenings.With the rude awakening following sweet beginnings in ‘PSA’, and the unexpected reward of a layered, disparate mashup in ‘Ascension’ after its dream-inducing introduction, the fluctuations are not to be mistaken with treachery, but to be interpreted as Felukah’s refusal to give into the allure of complacency by harmonising a range of flavours that are blended skillfully and seamlessly.
Produced and mixed by Mostafa Zaghloul, and mastered by Gabe Zimbler, Felukah appears to channel Frank Ocean and early-era The Weeknd in Kawkab, and she certainly relays their spirit in her determination to experiment with something darker.
