Egyptian Producer Ramez Featured on Milan's Opal New VA Compilation
The EP also includes contributions from five international trailblazing producers, such as BOOH, Last Chance, and Lourene.
Renowned Italian imprint Opal has tapped Cairo-based DJ and producer Ramez for their latest VA compilation EP, Turning Point Vol.1.
Known for his forward-thinking acid-synths-led mixes and productions that take from the disciplines of minimal, house, electro and techno, Ramez has done the rounds at some of the major parties and festivals in Egypt and Europe, such as Berlin’s Club Der Visionaere, Nacelle’s House Sessions, and, most recently, released on Berlin’s Off The Grid Records.
Featured on the Side A of the vinyl, Ramez’s track, ‘Sapporo’, is an intricate electro-house cut with a punchy analog, imbued by crisp swinging patterns of TR-808s, and insatiable rhythmic manipulation, mixed and mastered by Tapewave Mastering.
Having initially started as an improvised concept store for second-hand vinyl records in Milan in 2020, Opal is now one of the most revered electronic record labels in Europe and a multifunctional space in Lambrate, dedicated to promoting eclectic and innovative electronic artists through workshops, music events and releases.
Their latest compilation, Turning Point Vol.1, marks their fourth official release, featuring six producers from across the globe, such as BOOH, Last Chance, Lourene, Ramez, IDL and CRL. The record is a cohesive sonic journey with subtle changes in course, stitching various subgenres and styles, from Downtempo to electro and techno. Each track flows into the next one, offering a curated sequence of evolving perspectives and an introspective mapping of sound in transition.
Digital and physical copies of Turning Point Vol.1 vinyls are now available to order via Ultrasuonirecords’ Official website.
