Makan - Egyptian Centre for Culture and Arts
In an effort to document and preserve – through artistic production –
the specificity and vibrancy of Egypt's several cultures increasingly threatened by cultural
homogenisation, Makan arranges a wide array of events surrounding folkloric music, from Mazaher's
Zar to the Aragide Nubian group's tabla-dominant sound.

El Dammah Theater
Located in Abdeen, Downtown, El Dammah Theatre is run by the non-profit Mastaba Centre. Each Thursday, the theatre invites a broad range of quality artists, ranging from the Simsimeya and Dammah traditions of the Suez region to the Nubian, Sufi, Bedouin and Zar rituals and sounds of Upper Egypt. Also, with the aim of educating children on the region's musical heritage, El Mastaba has founded three schools situated across Egypt -- in Port Said, Suez and El Arish.

Darb 1718
The live music venue and cultural centre, Darb 1718, is
comprised of two art exhibition spaces, a dance and concert stage, and gardens. As well as showcasing
established artists, Darb 1718 focuses on exposing emerging artists pertaining to a wide range of
genres. Alongside performances, the cultural centre organises workshops and various mentoring
initiatives in order to aid music and art enthusiasts wanting to expand their artistic
skills.

Wekalet El Ghouri
Adjacent to Khan El Khalili in Islamic Cairo, Wekalet El Ghouri
is a 16th century building with an atmospheric venue inviting a 20-strong Tanoura Sufi Dance group
comprised of whirling dervishes and religious chanters, three days a week.
