Mehmooni London, musical home for Iranian and diasporic artists of colour, is gearing up to host ‘Summertime Gher’ at Village Underground with a special all-night summer party on July 14th.
Dedicated to reviving the Persian house party scene, the ‘Summertime Gher’ party series will take you on a journey through Iran’s rich musical history with a line-up of talented artists exploring various sounds of the Iranian diaspora: from Persian disco to 70s funk, psychedelia, bandari rhythms, dreamy techno and tribal house.
The event will see Mehmooni London’s co-founder, DJ and radio host RONISA, with her groovy genre-bending sounds and hip-shaking Middle-Eastern percussion. London-based singer/songwriter/producer AZADI.mp3 will be creating atmospheric soundscapes and densely textured visuals, while London-based Tehrani selector AOB will be making his ML debut with some eclectic tunes. ML’s co-founder Milli, meanwhile, will bring his signature fusion of Persian disco, funk and synths to the dancefloor.
‘Summer Gher’ will take place at Village Underground in London and there will be authentic Persian baklava ice cream sandwiches from Darlish. Doors open at 10 PM; you can book your tickets through the link in Mehmooni London’s Instagram bio.
