The near end of 2021 saw the Middle East, and the world, erupt with talks of World Expo being held in Dubai. Originally set to take place in 2020, hence the name ‘Expo 2020 Dubai’, the internationally acclaimed event is a collection of exhibitions displayed by every country in the world. It is seen as an opportunity to celebrate culture, history, and work towards the future hand-in-hand with the rest of civilization.

Included in the grand spectacles of Expo Dubai 2020 is the Women’s Pavilion. The building is dedicated to understanding the positive impact women make on the world and the challenges they still face. The pavilion is also a space where panel talks and discussions are held on the vision women have in shaping society.

That being said, the initiative comes with a fun, light-hearted side to female empowerment: the ‘We, The Women’ Festival taking place on March 7th at the pavilion itself. Complete with an all-star female line-up of some of the region’s most outstanding artists, this festival will feature a variety of genres and styles.

One of the many performers is Egypt’s own singer and composer Dina El Wedidi. She’s toured the world, made an album based on train sounds, and now will be representing Egypt beautifully at the biggest all-female line-up festival the region has seen. Fellow Egyptian-Belgian performer Natacha Atlas will also be gracing the stage.

Alongside their performances, the festival will feature performances from Sudan’s East-African afro-pop practitioner Alsarah and the Nubatones, Algeria’s chaâbi-folk icon Souad Massi, and creative powerhouse Les Amazones D’Afrique, amongst other powerful female acts.

The festival is sure to be a show-stopping event that will go down in music history, taking place March 6th & 7th from 5 PM to 10 PM.
