Berklee College of Music is undoubtedly one of the world’s best known music schools. Some of the biggest names in the music industry have graduated from Berklee, such as John Mayer, St. Vincent, and Steve Vai. The college recently opened a campus in Abu Dhabi in March 2020, and in a region where the music scene is still underdeveloped, their outlook on the industry could provide some valuable insight on how to move forward. In this year’s two day summit they will be exploring emerging technologies in the art field in general, and exploring how these new technologies will impact music including metaverse, Web3, and NFTs.
The last few years have seen rapid advancements in technology that have begun to impact the field of art and creativity, giving musicians in particular new avenues to explore independent distribution and ownership. This conference provides a space for musicians to discuss these topics with leading experts in the field, so that they can understand how these developments can impact the industry.
The summit includes talks such as: Music Production and Live Music in the Metaverse, New Monetization Opportunities for Content Creators, and a comprehensive talk on Web3 and Music. These talks hint at the possibility of the music industry eventually becoming integrated with these technologies. What that means for music is yet to be fully realized, but Berklee is making sure to stay ahead of the curve on this one.
The summit is set to take place on the 26th and 27th of October. You can register to attend through Berklee College of Music Abu Dhabi’s website.
