Off the back of raw, aggressive tracks like ‘Captain Coco’, ‘LoqLoq’ and ‘Halawa’, UAE-based rapper, Ahmedoo Biggie, has taken a decidedly calmer approach to his latest release, ‘Mood’. Featuring frequent collaborator, SG, as well as M4LEK, the track rides the gentle wave of a simple lo-fi piano sample that, at times, sounds like a xylophone. It’s this which bathes the whole track in a sombre night-time temperament, with the lyrics switching from Arabic to English in parts, and a bridge submersed in autotune vocals connecting the two main verses.
It's an overall much subtler take on Biggie’s usual brand of hip-hop. The rapper is a popular figure on social media in UAE, his accounts active and filled with all sorts of visual and audial content that step beyond his work in the studio. He’s been such a hit on the internet in the last few years, in fact, that he even gained the TikTok Heroes award for ‘Best Music Creator’ at the end of 2019.
