Sudanese Artists Maman and Hoosh Team-Up for Smooth Dancehall-Inspired R&B Single ‘Kabasa’
Recorded in Khartoum, mastered and finalised in the UK, heard everywhere from Miami to the Middle East. Two of the contemporary Sudanese music scene's most prolific artists have teamed up for an irresistibly smooth, dancehall-inspired number that sees both Hoosh and MaMan take things a little slower than usual for a latenight escape of a track.

As two of
the shining lights in Sudan’s eclectic contemporary music scene, Maman and Hoosh
have both carved out reputations for themselves for being two of the most
versatile artists around.
For Khartoum-based
MaMan, it was 2019 album, Shammasi that truly showcased his depth and versatility,
collaborating with the likes of TooDope and RoTation. For Hoosh, his
sounds have certainly been shaped by life in Miami, where he’s now based,
though he’s never been too far from his roots. He recently featured on The
C!rcle’s ‘Way Back’ and it was during a visit to Sudan last winter than he MaMan
came together to create ‘Kabasa’.

While it
immediately feels like a far cry from both artists’ usual sound, loyal fans
will know that it’s more of an extension of their sonic styles that both have played with before. It’s very much and
R&B track, though the beat does lean towards a mellow take on a dancehall
beat. This sets the stage for both artists to sing, rather than rap, and it
makes for a an irresistibly smooth late-night escape of a track that will likely
have you – like in the animated lyrics video – sit and stare into an abyss.
