Beirut-based rapper and producer, BeatLaLipos, delves deep into the common worries and uncertainty surrounding the Coronavirus pandemic with his new release, ‘Kememet’ (masks). Featuring Lebanese singer, Christy Samaha, the track’s lyrics, at various points, seem almost scattered, perhaps intentionally to mirror the scattered sequence of thoughts during moments of panic or confusion

The up-tempo, reggaeton-inspired beat is softened by Samaha’s delicate harmonies in the chorus, which – in some ways – makes the track much more complete. BeatLaLipos delves into a status of introspection where he wonders why this global crisis is happening, and whether humanity is paying the price for previous mistakes. The rapper also comments on people being forced to separate and becoming more and more paranoid in these unpredictable circumstances.

BeatLaLipos – also the producer of the track and part of the Jnood Beirut crew – has built a respectable battle rap reputation thanks to his participation in The Arena ME, the region’s first official rap league based in Beirut, where he has  has gone head-to-head with heavyweights such as Amman-based rapper, The Synaptik, in the past.
