Palestinian electronic producer, and self-dubbed ‘bad boy of Palestinian ambient’, Mhauesh, has looked further afield for his latest single, ‘Waheed’, which has more than a hint of reggaeton to it. On the back of his production work on Jowan Safadi’s recent album, Ijmad, the track arrives as Mhauesh’s first solo production since his 2018 solo LP, Devil’s Drool

Behind a metallic reggaeton-tinged rhythm section, guiro-like shakers and uplifting synthesised chords, Mhauesh’s vocals spin the track into an almost trance-like groove, with an upbeat bounce accentuated by an array of crisp percussion hidden throughout the mix.
