The rather minimal production puts Dareen’s blistering wordplay front and center.

Alexandrian Rapper Dareen Returns With New Music Video ‘Teleft Tedory’

Dareen made waves earlier this year in the wake of her breakout hit ‘Leila’, which has since garnered over 100,000 plays on Youtube alone, and following a 5-month hiatus has returned with a new video for ‘Telefy Tedory’. The minimalist music video, written by Dareen herself — and featuring visuals by AbdElRahman Ramadan (a.k.a SiR Mix) — is a relatively toned down affair, featuring a static shot of the artist, solo, and illuminated only by an iridescent, glowing puffer jacket. Accented with glitchy editing and frantic visual effects, the music video, forces the listener to focus on the lyrics over the image and editing.

Returning collaborator Rashed Muzik makes a reappearance on production duties, providing a heavy hitting trap accompaniment to Dareen’s lyrics, and honing in on the cosmically inspired video with atmospheric synth work.  Overall, ‘Telefy Tedory’ sees Dareen up the scope of her ambitions, both in terms of musical ability and visual style. With a keen focus towards wordplay and improving her rhymes, Dareen seems poised to take a place amongst the top of Egypt’s rap pantheon.
