A Selection of Minimal Techno Productions by Algerian Producer Harr
The best things are often found in the strangest places, which is very much the case with Algerian producer, Harr. Upon discovering his latest release, 'Hibernation Dreams' in a random corner of the internet, we dove further into his work to find a unique, rounded and genre-bending body of work that fuses the the hallmarks of minimal techno with elements of tech house.
Here at SceneNoise, we often stumble upon Middle Eastern musicians and producers in the strangest of places. This latest discovery, a series of tracks by Algerian producer Ahmed Yasser, aka Harr, comes courtesy of a minimal-techno Facebook group. True story.
A mainstay of Algerian underground DJ collective, REBELZ, Harr has spent the better part of 2020 releasing track after track on his Soundcloud and Bandcamp pages. With a style that smoothly blends the sonic signatures of minimal techno with elements of tech-house, and even the occasional splash of garage, Harr displays a level of technical ability and production quality well beyond what one might expect from an underground artist.
His latest release, ‘Hibernation Dreams’, is a mellow 7-minute track built on layers of ambient, atmospheric chords, frenetic glitch-like percussion, sensual female vocal samples, and a driving bassline that pushes the energy of the song in a firmly forwards direction.
