A Selection of Minimal Techno Productions by Algerian Producer Harr

Here at SceneNoise, we often stumble upon Middle Eastern musicians and producers in the strangest of places. This latest discovery, a series of tracks by Algerian producer Ahmed Yasser, aka Harr, comes courtesy of a minimal-techno Facebook group. True story.

A mainstay of Algerian underground DJ collective, REBELZ, Harr has spent the better part of 2020 releasing track after track on his Soundcloud and Bandcamp pages. With a style that smoothly blends the sonic signatures of minimal techno with elements of tech-house, and even the occasional splash of garage, Harr displays a level of technical ability and production quality well beyond what one might expect from an underground artist.

His latest release, ‘Hibernation Dreams’, is a mellow 7-minute track built on layers of ambient, atmospheric chords, frenetic glitch-like percussion, sensual female vocal samples, and a driving bassline that pushes the energy of the song in a firmly forwards direction.
