For years, Palestinian-Jordanian rapper, The Syanptik, has been thought of by many as one of the very best in the MENA region - an opinion validated in November, 2020 when he became only the second rapper in the region to be signed by Warner Music, following Chyno with a Why?.
In a matter of months, the rapper has got to work on what will be his debut album on the global music giant’s Middle East division, an album that we now have our first taste of with the release of new single, ‘Moseqa Al Qamar’ (Moon Music).
While The Synaptik has always been thoughtful and reflective in his art, his upcoming release is shaping up to be his most intimate, honest and raw yet. The album, Al Qamar Wal Moheet (The Moon and the Ocean) has been touted as a very personal journey on which the rapper will invite listeners to dive deeper into his life, touching on everything from quitting his medical job, to coming off Ritalin, to moving to Ramallah, Palestine to follow his dream to become a full-time artist.
The album also promises to dabble more freely in sound, blending elements of hip-hop, trap, R&B and even traditional Jordanian and Palestinian musical traditions.
This first single comes as an apt preview of what the album promises; it’s sombre, reflective and is unique sonically as anything to have been released by any rapper in the region in recent times. Stay tuned.
