Shuffle | Dec 11 - 24
This edition of our multi-genre playlist, Shuffle, includes picks from 3enba, Ahmed Bahaa, and Omar Souleyman.
Over the past fortnight, there has been an influx of new releases across all genres and styles, from shaabi and R&B to electronic, pop and hip-hop. In our latest instalment of Shuffle, bi-weekly playlist, the SceneNoise team has handpicked a selection of standouts, featuring picks from favourites like Ahmed Bahaa, and unexpected collaborations like Gorillaz, Omar Souleyman and Yasiin Bey.
London-based Kuwaiti-Palestinian artist, Etaf, build on the release of their latest album Don’t Call Me Baby with another cutting-edge Khaleeji-pop tune, ‘Ambeh’. Sharmoofers frontman, Ahmed Baha, goes solo with a collaborative single with Lege-Cy, ‘Sharan Belel’, while Lebanese-Egyptian songstress, Zeina, comes through with a tongue-in-cheek R&B tune, ‘Call Me Baby’. Meanwhile, iconic British band Gorillaz tap Syrian dabke legend Omar Souleyman and American hip-hop star Yasiin Bey for a joint single, ‘Damascus’.
The playlist also includes Akhres’ already chart-topping track ‘Ehlef’, Nayomi’s ‘Passenger Princess’ from her latest EP, XOXO, the trailblazing house duo, Husa & Zeyada with ‘Nothing Else’, and Palestinian collective ELFEKH with a punchy hip-hop cut, ‘GLOOL’.
