In this edition of our Shreet Cocktail playlist we select some of the best new releases from the past fortnight. Spanning various genres, the list ranges from shaabi beats to left-field electronica. This edition features new music by Double Zuksh, Kabreet and Abdullah Miniawy.
On the list is the latest track from Egyptian rap-mahraganat duo Double Zuksh and South African rapper Sho Madjozi on 'Zamaleky', featured on the upcoming compilation album 'Chromesthesia: The Colour of Sound Vol. 1'. Produced by Coolpix Boy, 'Zamaleky' combines South African amapiano rhythms with Egyptian mizmar grooves, layered with Double Zuksh’s mahraganat-influenced rap style and Sho Madjozi’s distinctive vocal performance.
We also see Egyptian multidisciplinary artist Youssef Alimam who unveiled a compelling new EP, ‘El Nadaha’. This project presents a blend of Egyptian folklore and electronica, offering an immersive soundscape rooted in the mythical stories of rural Egypt.
Further along the playlist is the latest release from German-Yemeni duo Kabrret with their track 'Awhamy’. Inspired by Alexandra’s song ‘Illusionen’, Kabreet captures the introspective quality of the original while allowing for personal interpretation. The song’s lyrics consider life inside one’s own thoughts, with Ibrahim’s serene delivery paired with gentle, ambient synths that evoke a calm, reflective space.
