In this edition of our Rap of the Week playlist, the SceneNoise team curates a selection of the best new hip-hop releases from across the MENA region, featuring everything from emo to slow-burning rap ballads and Moroccan influences. This week’s lineup includes fresh tracks from Tagne, Thawra and Mousv.

Ismailia-based rapper Mousv reunites with longtime collaborator Mohaimen for ‘Nabta’, revisiting the sonic landscape they explored on their critically acclaimed album ‘El Sahaba’. On this track, Mousv taps back into his emo-leaning aesthetic, delivering his signature blend of ambiguous, existential musings through a submerged vocal performance layered over Mohaimen’s intricate and atmospheric production.

Also featured on the playlist is ‘KAF’ from Ilmond’s ‘Intifada (Deluxe)’. Produced by Keen, this slow burner sees Ilmond in a reflective mode, touching on existential themes. The track builds on the ideas explored in Intifada, released late last year, but with a darker, more introspective approach.

Rounding out the playlist are the latest releases from Syrian artist Thawra with ‘Bo7’, Moroccan rapper Tagne with ‘La Haine’ and BLTNM’s R3D with ‘Kheir’.
