While MENA’s rap scene is still hustling and bustling its way up the charts, Morocco is in a league of its own. Their North African nation's concerts and visual work surpass that of its neighbors by a landslide, constantly coming up with innovative music videos and mammoth collaborations between all the heavyweights in their local scene - something that is lacking in the Egyptian rap scene, for example.

Moroccan artists are generally known to be collaborative by nature and in ‘Salina’, superstar El Grande Toto has brought together some of Morocco’s finest rappers for an explosive track. The whopping eight-minute piece sees Stormy, Khtek, Tagne, Abduh, 7liwa, Vargas, Ouenza, Figoshin, DollyPran, SmallX, and Draganov joining Toto for one of the biggest collaboration this region’s rap scene has ever seen - and it’s made all the bigger by production from Hellaboi, Huss, Yo Asel, Double A, Nouvo, Kartman, Draganov and Insane.

Besides the immaculate sonic quality they produce, the Moroccan scene has also offered some of the best visual work to come out of the region, and ‘Salina’ is a perfect example. Every rapper gets their own scene, distinct from each other’s visual appeal, but following a similar aesthetic to keep it tight and cohesive under the direction of Anas Beriane, a frequent collaborator of Toto’s.

The track has already garnered over 1 million views in under two days, with these numbers expected to boom throughout the next couple of weeks. ‘Salina’ is a prime example of the progressives of the Moroccan rap scene in comparison to the rest of the MENA region with constant rejuvenations and an eagerness to strive even further. Their openness to new projects, sounds, and visual work is why their local scene has reached extraterrestrial heights.
