After going off the grid for almost a year, Dr Alfons - the Egyptian artist slash geriatric hipster puppet who took over social media with his elderly charms - returns with a new release, ‘Cigara’; the first single-cum-teaser from his comeback album ‘Hey Baby’.
‘Cigara’ combines retro beats with pulsating modern rhythms, offering a candy-flavoured synth-heavy groove. The track’s intro features a wispy female voice speaking in French, confessing her love to Dr. Alfons. As the voice fades away, the beat swiftly shifts into cacophonous synthetic melodies intersected with rolling drum patterns, and acid-licked bass lines that serve as a backdrop for Dr. Alfons’ soulful vocals and playful lyricism.
“This track embodies my musical evolution, from my early days as a puppeteer to now, where I embrace the persona of Dr. Alfons,” the artist tells SceneNoise. “I wanted to capture the joy and freedom that dance music brings to people across the world.”
The music video accompanying ‘Cigara’ complements the track’s dynamic sound and uplifting energy, echoing the spirit of the classic film ‘Dirty Dancing’. In the video, Dr. Alfons appears in a dance studio, showcasing his fluid quirky moves and charismatic presence alongside his partner.
Dr. Alfons’ forthcoming album ‘Hey Baby’ is set to be released soon.
