In the small universe of Alexandrian alternative rock band 4 El Fagr, it is always past midnight. The band has become known for its faintly melancholic music, boasting a strange talent for perpetually making their tracks feel like it’s being listened to in the concluding chapters of the night. The band’s newest release, ‘Ana Tayeh’ - made in collaboration with producer Seif & Co. - extends the breadth of 4 El Fagr’s dreamscapes even further.
Since their debut ‘El Leil Metawel’ in 2020, 4 El Fagr has prided itself on creating music in which the night can grasp its final breaths. Traversing the unique journeys of love, heartbreak and the pain of self-exploration, the band’s discography is both melancholic and joyous whilst maintaining its dreamy presentation.
“‘Ana Tayeh’ was actually a gift to someone special,” lead vocalist and songwriter Abdelrahman Khalil tells SceneNoise. “Now, the song really fills me with immense gratitude for my friends. Seif, an old school friend and very talented producer, helped us produce the song in record time. Our guitarist, Ahmed Osama, also blew my mind with the guitar solo. They all came together to make this dream happen.”
With Seif &Co. also playing the beat and riff, ‘Ana Tayeh’ utilises striking chords amid dreamy tunes to paint an accurate portrait of the bewilderment of early love. After uncovering the nearly crippling vulnerability that comes with looking into someone’s eyes and wanting to hold onto their eyes for dear life, the song fades from desperation to surrender. The song’s post-apocalyptic air then drops us into the familiar vortex of wondering where love goes.
The single teases the release of 4 El Fagr’s debut album soon.
