Any old-schooler partying in Egypt since the heyday of the rave movement will know Junior. Having started out DJing in the late 90s, he has been at the forefront of house music for well over a quarter century. His career started when he first got time behind the decks of some of Cairo’s coolest parties, later moving to Sharm’s Bus Stop - now known as Pacha - to launch his serial night ‘House Nation’.
Back-to-back with Gogo, his partner in crime at the time, they took the series around Egypt with nights in Cairo, Alexandria, and beyond, before splitting up to end what was surely some of the best B2B sessions we heard in our lives. Shortly after, Junior made his migration to the White Island in Spain to take residence in one of it’s biggest clubs - Amnesia - for five years, earning himself the title of Egypt’s 'Ibiza Boy'.
Now Junior is living between Cairo and Helsinki, he runs his artist management agency Junior Music, as well as carrying on his role as promoter and DJ, throwing some of the best underground parties Cairo has seen in a while, and regularly travelling abroad to play. Earlier last month Junior launched his latest online podcast Cornucopia, and as the name suggests it contains a plethora of different sounds.
In it he drops tracks by Goldcap, Kora, Dahu, Hammer, Super Flu, and many more. It's house with a lot of sub genres, touching on a certain techno-ish vibe at parts, with something for every taste, portraying that signature energetic Junior sound - listen below.Follow Junior on Facebook here and check out his Soundcloud for more tunes.
