Kiiko returns with ‘ENTERTAIN US’, a new single ahead of his forthcoming six-track EP, ‘BARE MAXIMUM’. The Cairo-born singer, songwriter, and producer has been steadily building his discography since his debut EP in 2022, with this latest release marking his third extended project.

Fully self-produced, the track is an unfiltered expression of Kiiko’s inner world, channelling heavy emotions into a soundscape that feels both grand and deeply personal. It unfolds with a nuanced sonic palette, beginning with a soft, orchestral introduction led by delicate piano and acoustic textures before morphing into an expansive electronic arrangement. As the song progresses, a surge of heavy electric guitars and a distorted, bass-driven finale amplify its intensity, signalling a more aggressive and ambitious turn in Entertain Us. The track’s gradual build mirrors its emotional weight, each element layering atop the other until it reaches a cathartic peak.

Mirroring the energy of its production, the lyrics start with a hushed, intimate tone before swelling into something more all-consuming. The songwriting reads like an unsent confessional letter, touching on themes of emotional exhaustion and the limitations of empathy. Lines like “Some people are just not meant to be saved” and “You got addicted to grief, to guilt, to hate” paint an emotional landscape shaped by disillusionment and suffering. The contrast between personal anguish and external expectations is emphasised in “They said ‘won’t you entertain us?’”, addressing the complex relationship between artistic expression and audience demands.
