Stage fright is a feeling of nervousness that people sometimes get before making an appearance. In other cases, however, it prevents artists, especially aspiring musicians, from taking that first step towards what they want to achieve. This is exactly why Mahmoud Ehab launched “Stage Fright”, an online platform that aims to engage and educate the music community in Egypt, and serve as an enabler for aspiring musicians to pursue their aspirations. With 13 years of musical experience under his belt, Ehab wanted to provide to musicians what wasn’t available to him when he first started.

“The idea came to me when I was in university. There was no platform to educate musicians in Egypt or tell them where to buy their gear — you had to figure it out yourself or ask someone," Ehab tells us. "The page is a bit guitar-oriented because this is what I know best. But I have plans to expand in many genres, instruments and sounds, and ultimately throw events and competitions.”

Don’t be fooled into thinking that Stage Fright’s content will teach you techniques, because as the platform isn’t purely educational. You won’t find any guitar lessons or complex harmony tutorials, as their aim is to focus more on what is never mentioned during lessons or tutorials, and fill in some gaps. You’ll often find them addressing questions like how to start a song or explaining the different guitar types, to help musicians make the right decision on which one to buy.
