For the last nine years, Dubai's Design district, aka d3, has hosted eight editions of the dynamic culture and lifestyle festival, Sole DXB. As the name would suggest, sneakers play an important role in the event's operation. Indeed, over the years brands like Adidas, Reebok, Jordan and Puma, along with participating brands such as Burberry and Levis, have supported a wide range of high-calibre hip hop and R&B artists, enabling the festival to showcase quality talent. Last year's edition witnessed performances from icons such as Nas, Giggs, Blood Orange and Slowthai, among others. This year's line-up is as impressive. Inaugurating the three-day long festival are Wu Tang Clan, Proto Je, Lile Ike, and the list goes on. That's just day one. Headlining act for day two is Burna Boy, preceded by Rico Nasty and Narcy, to name a few. Day three will see Black Star (Yasiin Bey + Talib Kweli), Dave East and Wiley take to the stage. In addition to the performances, there will be a series of late-night parties comprising blasting sound systems from the likes of Kingston Dub Club, No Nonsense Friday, among others. Finally, yet not any less excitingly, amid all the raving, sneaker brands and other participating designers will be unveiling their latest (most probably limited-edition) streetwear. Tantalising.
