Start off 2018 correctly by obliterating that crud that built up on your brain this past year with an evening of experimental audio-visual performances inside of Zawya cinema.
Mapping Possibilities is a continuous project that gives space for “independent bedroom/DIY/self-taught/experimental” artists to share their art in a live setting, featuring a different group of artists in each installation of the event. The project itself is DIY and self-funded.
The model for Mapping Possibilities is to pair up audio artists with visual artists, intending to foster creative dialogue and new aesthetic and conceptual possibilities. Though the project focuses on emerging artists, the level of production and technicality is advanced. It presents the un-orthodox use of platforms such as coding and 3D animation, while the audio artists focus on non-conforming styles such as drone and glitch. Thus, Mapping Possibilities is meant to be more of a groundbreaking and genre slashing sonic and visual experience rather than a concert, per say.
On Thursday, January 4th, Mapping Possibilities IV will bring us two performances set in the intimate atmosphere of Zawya theater. The first act will join "sonologist" Nur with 3D animator and visual artist Nurah. Second is experimental electronic musician with visual artist ???? 62. This is not your cotidian music event, and we are privileged to have access to such an innovative display of imagination in Cairo.
