A selection of Arab artists including Egyptian rapper Marwan Moussa, the Arab electronica group Shkoon, rising mahraganat stars El Sawareekh, Moroccan electronic group Aïta Mon Amour, and Egyptian musician and DJ Arabesquo will headline the first-ever Arabic music festival in the Netherlands, Nawafiz.
Taking place on May 24th at renowned music venue TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht, the Nawafiz festival aims to further showcase music from the South West Asian and North African regions. In recent years, the venue has seen a growing interest in artists with musical roots in the Arabic-speaking world.
"Organizing the Arabic music festival Nawafiz is a logical next step for us," Loubna El Boujoufi, programmer at TivoliVredenburg and founder of Nawafiz, says. TivoliVredenburg is known for its diverse program, ranging from classical music and jazz to pop and electronic music.
