MOSHTRQ to Host Live Audiovisual Showcase of ZULI's 'Lambda' Aug 20

Egyptian collective MOSHTRQ has teamed up with RAAD Records to bring ZULI’s Lambda to Cairo for a special live audiovisual showcase on August 20th, marking the project’s first presentation of its kind in the Middle East.

A leading figure in the Egyptian electronic underground scene and one of its most innovative exports, ZULI has built a reputation for his highly distinguished productions and sets, combining experimentation in rap/hip-hop with percussive, abrasive, and often fractured club rhythms and complex sound design. He is best known for his debut LP Terminal and the infamous Trigger Finger EP, which was remixed by renowned international artists like Acre and TSVI. With Lambda, however, ZULI moves beyond the club-focused intensity of his earlier work. The project leans into ambient desolation, fractured textures and trip-hop influences, unfolding through collaborations with Hamburg-based Michael Braily, British artist Coby Sey, and fellow Egyptian multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Abdullah Minawy.

ZULI first presented Lambda as a live audiovisual work in Berlin’s Kuppelhalle in 2024, alongside German artist Ludwig Wadinger and Cairo-born artist Omar El Sadek. The Cairo edition will take a more intimate form, with a limited-capacity, seated listening session designed to foreground the album’s textures, moods and sonic explorations, with Young Salamony on visuals duty.

The evening will open with a set from Cairo-based DJ Khorda, followed by a hybrid performance from experimental artist Jomana. MOSHTRQ crew member Belahadaf will close out the night.
