One of Egypt’s favorite music and art centers, Cocoon Culture Centre, is coming back with ‘Gomhoor 3al So7oor’, an open mic event aimed at offering a free space for musicians, poets, comedians, and artists to express themselves and portray their talents in front of a light-hearted crowd.
The weekly event will be hosted every Thursday from 8PM till 2AM at the Townhouse/The Factory in Downtown Cairo, with the first event on the 7th of April being dedicated to music, with each artist receiving a 10 minute slot to perform. The second event to be held on the 14th of April will be a comedy night, an art form that is honestly neglected on an intermediate level in Egypt, despite comedy being one of the most popular genres in Egyptian cinema. Finally, on the 21st of April, poetry and theatre will take over the night.
If you’d like to perform at one of these events, head to the venue early and pick a suitable time slot for you to do your thing.
In addition to the festivities, the nights are being put on for a good cause – five charities will be setting up booths in order for people to support, as well as five local businesses setting up vendor stalls, with some surprise giveaways to be distributed throughout the events.
When you book your ticket online or get there early, you get two free sandwiches from Zooba to keep your energy levels high after a long day of fasting.
