AL.Festival - a Berlin-bred annual music festival dedicated to amplifying musical acts from across the SWANA region - has recently announced the full lineup and guest curators for its fifth edition on October 12th.
Since its inception in 2019 by AL.Berlin, a cultural collective that has been fostering welcoming spaces for the SWANA diaspora in Berlin, AL.Festival has cemented itself globally for its inclusive and diverse lineup encompassing various genres from pop and alternative to folk, mahragant and electronic dance music.
Taking place in Berlin’s Festsaal Kreuzberg, the festival’s full-day program comes courtesy of guest curators Adira Party, an Arabic-pop collective co-founded by Lebanese artist Hassandra and Syrian-German podcaster Zuher Jazmati, and event series Latin Arab, curated by DJ/selector and NTS radio host Edna Matinez.
The lineup features some of the most promising SWANA acts, both homegrown and in the diaspora, including Egyptian Mahragant duo El Sawareekh, Palestinian producer and singer-songwriter Ahmed Eid, Moroccan pop-folk project Disco Atlas, Berlin-based Syrian indie outfit Jazeera 10, and Palestinian folk singer Rola Azaar.
Meanwhile, on the electronic dance side of the lineup, there’s London-based Jordanian DJ/producer and Franco-Lebanese house duo Tales & Ahlam. The festival will also feature a series of drag shows along with a diverse market space, an outdoor bazaar and multiple food carts.
