In Egypt, they say that when you drink from the Nile, you’re destined to come back. Before we continue, you should under no circumstances drink from the Nile, even if a mermaid appears and beckons you. No. Just don’t.
The metaphor seems to ring true with the folks of Beirut-based collective, Retrogroove, who are set to return to Cairo on February 4th, after visiting as part of a GVO party in Novemebr 2021, and then again in December for a showcase.
Known for their unashamedly and unapologetically colourful nights - think groovy tunes and exoctic party production - their return will take place at a secret venue in the Cairo’s leafy suburb, Maadi, and they’ve recruited some local talent in the form of Nour Fahmy.
The rest of the line-up will welcome Lebanese DJs, Klo and Allen, who will both be making their Cairo debuts, while Retrogroove co-founder, Ralph Nasr, will headline.
