London-based artist, James ‘Kutmah’ McNulty, has been burning the midnight oil while in isolation and is set to release a new twelve-track album on May 1st. Rather impressively, Isolation Tapes: (v.001) was recorded in the span of three-and-a-half weeks while Kutmah is holed up in Berlin. Not one to rest on his laurels, the artist has used him quarantine time to put together a record that promises to be expansive in sound, with four teased tracks on Bandcamp hinting at a range of different styles and inspirations in tracks that are rooted in the sounds of the infamous LA beat scene that he had front row seats to. You can hear a little acid jazz, some ambient drone and one of the tracks, 'WTFU', even features what sounds like a mizmar.

Born in the UK to a Scottish father and Egyptian mother, Kutmah first made a name for himself as an underground DJ and artist in California, before moving back to the UK where he has a show on NTS Radio.  He’s performed alongside the likes of Animal Collective, Sonic Youth, DJ Krush and Flying Lotus, amongst many others.
