Lebanon’s Papa Soul Self-Releases Lush 10-Track Lo-Fi Beat Tape
’The Art of High Chi’ is an outstanding labour of love.
Lebanese house DJ/producer and Feedasoul Records co-founder Majd El Alam aka Papa Soul has always drawn on a host of different influences for his own music as well as his imprint’s. Whether he’s jamming away on his dusty old MPC in his own productions or selecting releases from different artists on Feedasoul, it’s clear that Majd’s inspiration goes above and beyond house music. This accumulation of influences is finally amalgamating in his latest, self-released beat tape The Art of High Chi. The 10-track beat tape sees Majd conjure the likes of Children of the Drum, Slum Village and various elements of the London nu-jazz scene for an unpremeditated, unquantized and straight from the heart beats truly showcase range and emotive style of production.
