With new LP, Ibn El-Dayra, on the horizon, Amman-based rapper, Elsheefra, has given a little taste of what’s in store with new single, ‘Ben2ool Salam’.
The broody beat, which is seemingly inspired by the kind of trap/hip-hop hybrid music we’ve been seeing come out of Egypt this year, sets the tone for some equally broody lyrics, which explore anxiety, uneasiness and the dependency on substances to relax.
Released on Jordanian hip-hop record label No Sleep Entertainment (aka Ma Fi Nom Entertainment), the highlight of the track is Elshefeera's consistent, effortless and nuanced delivery and flow. ‘Ben2ool Salam’ is the second single off 12-track album, Ibn El-Dayra, following the early April release of ‘Ahlan Bel Deereh’. There’s been no official release date announced for the album, though it’s likely that it will be released at the end of May/beginning of April.
