Wegz & Mohamed Mounir Drop Their Long-Awaited Collab ‘Kalam Forsan’

Following his August-released album, Aqareb, Egyptian rapper Wegz is set to drop Aqareb Side B, the lead single of which sees the Alexandria native team up with the legendary Mohamed Mounir.

After months of cryptic Instagram teases, the pair has finally released their joint track, ‘Kalam Forsan’, collaboration that comes as culmination of their long-term friendship. The track bridges eras of Egyptian music, Wegz’s soaring flows intertwined with Mounir’s unmistakable, honeyed harmonies into one compelling synergy.

True to its title, ‘Words of the Knights’, the song reads like a masterclass in life lessons, navigating betrayal, frienemies, survival, and self-belief, delivered by two of the region’s most influential voices.

The track’s intricate production, helmed by London-based producer and sound engineer Tudor Munroe and Egyptian producer-engineer Hussein Gamal (both of whom were key collaborators on Aqareb), perfectly complements the introspective depth of the songwriting of Wegz and Amir Taema. A rumbling sub-bass drives the beat, accompanied by shimmering traditional Arab percussion, and lush, mellow-ish orchestral fusion of oud, qanun, kwala, and sweeping string arrangements, crafting a sonic palette that straddles both contemporary pop-leaning sound and nostalgic folksy textures. 

The collab follows a string of high-profile features on Side A, including Zuli on 'Bad Days', Seyi Vibez on 'Mama Afrikya', and Ziad Zaza on 'Ghareeba'. Arguably, however, this collaboration is Wegz's most significant to date, fully elevating him from a 'rap star' to a universally recognized household superstar.

بعد أشهر من التلميحات على إنستجرام، يأتي التعاون أخيرًا كثمرة صداقة طويلة بين الاثنين. التراك يمزج بين فلوهات وِيجز الشبابية وصوت وموسيقى منير المميزة، في انسجام كامل، ليخلق صوتًا يجمع بين الحداثة والأصالة في الموسيقى المصرية.

يحمل التراك عنوان "كلام فرسان"، ويقدّم دروسًا في الحياة عن الخيانة، الأعداء المقربين، الصمود، والثقة بالنفس، بصوت اثنين من أبرز الأصوات في المنطقة.

الإنتاج من Tudor Munroe من لندن وحسين جمال من مصر، يجمع بين إيقاعات عربية تقليدية، وأوركسترا غنية من عود وقانون وكوالة وأوتار واسعة، ليخلق تجربة موسيقية بين الطابع المعاصر والحنين للأصالة.

يأتي هذا التعاون بعد سلسلة من التعاونات لويجز مثل Zuli على Bad Days، Seyi Vibez على Mama Afrikya، وزياد زازا على Ghareeba. ومع هذا الإصدار، يؤكّد وِجز مكانته الآخذة في الازدهار داخل مشهد الموسيقى العربية المعاصرة.
