Having just launched out of Hoxton, London, new record label Reverie is looking to amplify the cultural soundscape of the MENA region in the English capital. Their first release, ‘Lost at Home’ by young Egyptian producer Gadouh, helps set the tone for the label’s modus operandi: to cultivate etheric blends and reap from them a diverse melody of techno.
The producer’s work is experimental in its essence, reflecting influences from spiritual Sufi music and improvisational melodies of Maqam. The track guides the listener on a journey within, through intricate textures that draw inspiration from his country of origin.
“As an Egyptian producer based in London, I aim to transcend the cultural boundaries by touching on the common core of who listens,” Gadouh tells #SceneNoise. With heavy breakbeat influence that soars over his Maqam experimentation, Gadouh’s debut speaks of high volumes, hinting at positive things to come for the young producer.
