L5VAV Presents EP ‘Bahar’ with New Interactive Listening Experience

Egyptian rapper and producer L5VAV returns with a new project, the EP ‘Bahar’. But the release’s departure from convention goes beyond its music, extending to the way it is presented. Rather than relying on traditional streaming platforms, L5VAV has opted for DIT,  an interactive music player that lets listeners stream full tracks, adjust individual stems and explore illustrated stories accompanying each track’s lyrics.

Spanning five tracks, the project moves between rap and R&B, opening with ‘La Tabki’, which samples an older song by singer Rasha Rizk. The original track’s uplifting message of holding on to hope and refusing to give up contrasts with L5VAV's more complicated outlook on life. Revisiting childhood dreams and promises left unfulfilled, he traces how one’s perspective shifts with time, shaped by disappointment and the contradictions of everyday life. Even personal relationships are not spared, with L5VAV declaring that “even love wants cash”. While the original sample reminds listeners that hope and hard work are never wasted, his lyrics question what becomes of those dreams when reality intervenes, and how one keeps going despite everything lost along the way.

The EP’s title track, ‘Bahar ’- produced by L5VAV and SKILLITONE - draws on the sea and the journey as metaphors for perseverance. Here, L5VAV casts himself as a sailor navigating towards the shore, searching for a safe harbour. Between the waves, obstacles, betrayal and the words of those around him, the journey becomes a test of his resolve and ability to keep moving forward, reflecting on the passage of time and his desire to provide a better life for someone he loves, all while feeling that time is constantly slipping away.

The project also features ‘Wohoush’, a collaboration with Lil Alex, who shares writing and vocal duties with L5VAV, while Rashed handles production.

With ‘Behar’, The 5ive offers a listening experience that extends beyond the music itself, rethinking how audiences engage with and interact with a release. It is a compelling step towards imagining what the future of music releases could look like.

بعد غياب، يعود الرابر والموزع الموسيقي الفايف بمشروع جديد وألبوم مصغر بعنوان "بحار". لكن الاختلاف في هذا الإصدار لا يقتصر على الموسيقى، بل يمتد إلى طريقة طرحه نفسها. فبدلاً من الاعتماد على منصات البث التقليدية، اختار الفايف تقديم تجربة استماع مختلفة من خلال DIT، وهي منصة إلكترونية ومشغل موسيقي يتيحان الاستماع إلى الأغاني كاملة، إلى جانب خصائص تفاعلية تمنح المستمع تحكماً أكبر في مكوناتها الموسيقية، مثل كتم صوت الدرامز أو رفع صوت الميلوديز. كما تضم المنصة كلمات الأغاني مصحوبة بقصص مصورة لكل تراك.

يضم المشروع خمس أغنيات تتحرك بين الراب والـR&B، وتبدأ الرحلة مع "لا تبكي"، التي تستعين بعينة من أغنية قديمة للفنانة رشا رزق، مع غناء من الفايف على موسيقى لو فاي. يتقاطع المقطع المتفائل من الأغنية الأصلية، الذي يدعو إلى التمسك بالأمل وعدم الاستسلام، مع كلمات الفايف التي تنظر إلى الحياة من زاوية أكثر تعقيداً. يستعيد الفايف أحلام الطفولة والوعود التي لم تتحقق، ويرصد كيف تتغير نظرة الإنسان إلى العالم مع الوقت، وسط الخذلان والتناقضات التي يواجهها، حتى في علاقاته الشخصية، حيث يصل الأمر إلى أن "حتى الحب عايز كاش". وبينما يذكّرنا المقطع الأصلي بأن الأمل والعمل لا يضيعان، تطرح كلمات الفايف تساؤلات حول مصير تلك الأحلام حين يصطدم أصحابها بالواقع، وكيف يواصلون الطريق رغم كل ما يفقدونه في أثناء الرحلة.

أما أغنية "بحار"، التي تحمل اسم المشروع، فتواصل الاعتماد على موسيقى اللو فاي، وتستند إلى استعارة البحر والرحلة، حيث يقدم الفايف نفسه كبحّار يحاول الوصول إلى الشاطئ والرسو في ميناء آمن. وبين الأمواج والعقبات والخيانة وكلام المحيطين، تتحول الرحلة إلى اختبار للإصرار والقدرة على مواصلة الطريق. وتحمل الكلمات أيضاً جانباً أكثر شخصية، يتصل بمرور الوقت والرغبة في توفير حياة أفضل لشخص يحبه، في ظل شعور دائم بأن الوقت يسبقه. الأغنية من إنتاج الفايف وSKILLITONE.

ويضم المشروع أيضاً أغنية "وحوش"، بمشاركة ليل أليكس، وهي الأكثر ميلاً إلى الراب بين أغاني الألبوم. ويتقاسم ليل أليكس مع الفايف الكتابة والأداء، فيما يتولى راشد الإنتاج الموسيقي.

يقدم الفايف من خلال "بحار" تجربة موسيقية مختلفة، لا تقتصر على الموسيقى نفسها، بل تمتد إلى طريقة الاستماع والتفاعل مع الأغاني. وهو إصدار لافت يفتح الباب أمام تصورات جديدة لما قد تبدو عليه تجربة إصدار الموسيقى في المستقبل.
