Egyptian rapper Ahmed Santa is constantly upping his game by rejuvenating his flow and lyrical direction, as well as switching up his beat selection - like he did in his latest album ‘Santa ElGded’. Couple of months following the release of the album, the technically-gifted rapper released a music video for ‘Ahmed Santa’ (the track, not himself).
Directed by Muhammad Korayem, the video is infested with creative cuts and pacey edits, along with a first-of-its-kind anime edit. Santa is seen cruising down the street before briefly being held hostage and intimidated, recreating an infamous 'Scarface' scene, but Santa looks like he’s unfazed throughout this ‘torture’ session. Santa is then beheld hanging out at a backyard with his wolfpack; rappers Abo El Anwar, Desso and Slyver, with Egyptian rocker AIKK.
The highlight of the video would hands down be the moment Santa is seen driving a car which then slowly transitions to an anime cartoon as the car floats then explodes into a pool of what looks like blood shedding. This is followed by a flash of explosions and a huge warzone occuring in anime-style visuals. Very badass. Very sugoi.
The video closes off with Santa being arrested then interrogated aggressively. If we’re being honest, it looks like Santa snitched on his crew in there, as he is served a fine burger and a drink as he speaks to the two cops - or it could be his last meal, who knows.
