Released in June if this year, MASKHARA by Bashar Murad arrived in a blaze of colour, a refusal by the Palestinian artist to give into subjigation, a self-depricating confrontation staning tall against social injustices. It also just simply sounded fun, without ever muddying Murad’s messages.

The same can be said, quite aptly, of the video for ‘ANTENNE’, featuring veteran Palestinian rapper and activist, Tamer Nafar. While the content of the song touches on the reduction ad devaluation of Palestinian lives, the videos is tour de force of visual stimulation. Even in the scenes that come close to reflecting the grimness of the subject, there’s a delightfully cartoony nature to the whole piece that only further cements Murad’s position as one of the Middle East’s most creative and unpredictable musicians and performers.
