RedBull Jamhoureya @ Floor 18

Last Friday, November 30th, Red Bull Music put on the second edition of Jamhoureya, the project via which they unite four local electronic producers with Egyptian musicians of traditional background, in a location of their choice. This year saw four breakthrough collaborations: producer, singer and songwriter Aya Metwalli worked with Bedouin musicians from Sinai, producer/live musician Hatem Chiati brought sea-faring musicians from Suez and Port Said, experimental maestro Ismail Hosny with Nubian musicians from Aswan, and electronic/instrumental act The Meteors Project with musicians from Asyut. The venue of Studio 18 provided the perfect setting for this exploration of digital music meets timeless tradition in something altogether contemporary.
